Indicators

Indicators are an essential tool for monitoring progress towards the fulfilment of the 2030 Agenda goals at global, regional and national levels.

An indicator represents the statistical data or data derived from it in terms of time, space and other characteristics. Time and geographical perspectives are necessary for a statistical indicator.

Indicators are usually a direct input into national, regional and global policies. In strategic policy fields they are important for setting targets, monitoring their achievement and assessing the effectiveness of the measures taken.
